Musa ornata is a small banana tree of up to 5m which is cultivated for its attractive flowers and fruits. It is also occasionally found in scrublands or disturbed forests, possibly remnants from past cultivated stock. It can be differentiated from its small stature and slender pseudostem and is distinctive for the pink bracts and small seeded fruits.
